Chief, Section on Systems Biology of Communication Disorders, Laboratory
The Section on Systems Biology of Communication Disorders is focused on identifying genetic variation in the molecular components of human communication systems. Our studies rely heavily on genetic approaches including both family-based and population-based approaches. Our primary goals are to identify genes responsible for communication disorders in humans, and to generate in vitro and animal model systems for the study of these disorders, with a particular emphasis on the speech disorder of stuttering.
