David Illingworth earned his PhD in Engineering Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2020. He is currently a President's Postdoctoral Fellow, working in Dr. Michael Dougherty's Decision, Attention, & Memory Laboratory. David uses both computational and empirical methodologies to investigate cognitive processes that underlie human decision-making. The goal of this work is two-fold: (1) to understand how belief structures affect one's ability to effectively engage in everyday hypothesis testing, information search, and information source valuation and (2) to apply cognitive models in applied domains to inform the design of engineered systems.
