Dr. Coltan G. Parker is a post-doctoral researcher working with Dr. Scott Juntti to investigate the sensory, neural, and genetic factors that underpin social behavior. This research is done using cichlid fish, primarily the model cichlid Astatotilapia burtoni.
He earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). There he worked with Dr. Justin Rhodes studying neural and behavioral aspects of male-to-female sex change in the common clownfish Amphiprion ocellaris. Prior to that he earned a B.A. in Neuroscience from Knox College (Galesburg, IL) where he worked with Dr. Heather Hoffmann studying olfactory communication in humans.
