NACS adjunct faculty member Dr. Cynthia Moss, and colleagues Dr. Rajat Mittal, UMD alumna Dr. Mounya Elhilali, and Dr. Susanne Sterbing-D'Angelo, recently received one of 19 National Science Foundation awards established in support of Understanding the Brain and the BRAIN Initiative, a coordinated research effort that seeks to accelerate the development of new neurotechnologies. These grants promote research that uses cross-disciplinary approaches to "push the frontiers of brain science." Dr. Moss' research team will study how the bat brain processes sound information to guide flight navigation.
The title of their grant is, "Active Listening and Attention in 3D Natural Scenes."
