This Philadelphia Enquirer article from June 16, 2021 features Dr. Amritha Mallikarjun, discussing her current research.

She is working on several scent detection studies at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center. 

Amritha obtained a B.S. in Cognitive Science with an additional major in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. She then joined the University of Maryland Language Development Lab as a Ph.D. student in the fall of 2014. Her interest in speech perception and auditory processing in dogs drove the formation of the Canine Language Perception Lab at UMD in 2017. Her thesis research focused on the impact of ambient noise in the environment on speech perception and word learning in infants and dogs.
