Dr. Colenso Speer was recently awarded a NARSAD Young Investigator Grant from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. The grant provides support for the most promising young scientists conducting neurobiological research relevant to serious brain and behavior disorders.

The grant provides support to the project, Molecular connectomics of a visual circuit essential for circadian physiology, sleep, and learning, in which Colenso and others propose to isolate and characterize the local synaptic translatome and proteome of synaptic connections from intrinsically photosensitive ganglion cells in the eye onto postsynaptic partner neurons in the brain's central circadian pacemaker, the suprachiasmatic nucleus.

Congratulations, Dr. Speer!
