NACS faculty, Dr. Jens Herberholz, is among a team of UMD researchers on the project, Developing engineering solutions to investigate microbiome-to-neuron communication, which investigates the complex gut-microbiome-brain axis system (GMBA).  The project was recently awarded $1M by NSF's Integrative Strategies for Understanding Neural and Cognitive Systems (NCS) program
