Rose Rizzi is a postdoc in the Center for Comparative and Evolutionary Biology of Hearing and is affiliated with NACS and the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences. She earned her double major Ph.D. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences and Neuroscience from Indiana University where she studied the neural mechanisms underlying individual differences in phoneme categorization and speech-in-noise perception using EEG and MRI. This work showed that more consistent perception is associated with stronger neural speech coding and better speech understanding in noise. Her work as a postdoc extends this research to investigate how these processes change with aging. She is co-advised by Drs. Samira Anderson and Jonathan Simon.
