So Yeon Shin is a postdoctoral associate in the Child Development Lab at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research broadly examines how environmental factors influence children's early development, and how such relations may vary across different groups and cultures. Within the Child Development Lab, she works on the Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) study, which examines how perinatal and early environmental adversities interact with and influence children's development prior to formal schooling. So Yeon received her PhD in Education from Harvard University in 2021 under the mentorship of Dr. Meredith Rowe, where she examined the role that mothers play in shaping children's early language experiences and development in South Korea, with a focus on analyzing linguistic elements of parent-child interactions.
